Solved: Homepage attacked!
Im using win xp with ie browser, everytime I open my browser it directs my to a page named “elite-glsex.net/homepage.php” even though I change my home page everytime I restart it goes back to the mentioned page. What to do? thanks

When I scan using hijack this an alert message appears containing this:

You have an particularly large amount of hijacked domains. It’s probably better to delete the file itself then to fix each item (and create a backup)
If you see the same IP address in all the reported O1 items, consider deleting your hosts file, which is located at C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.

Here’s the log file: I’ve tried to fix all O1 but its still coming back when I restart my system and do a scan again.

Hi step22

You have no anti-virus protection.
Get AVG (it's free): http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Install it and run a scan.

Download the Hoster from here:
www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip
Run Hoster and press Restore Original Hosts, OK, and Exit Program.

Reboot, post a new Hijack This log.

You need to download it.

I'm sure the reason why it came back so fast was because your system is completely unprotected and vulnerable.

There is no active anti-virus program, no spyware protection.

You also have no Service Packs installed. You're behind in Windows Updates.

I understand that it will take awhile to download.
But without protection, this infection will only get worse.

Download KillBox here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Save it to your desktop.
DO NOT run it yet.

With IE closed, run Hijack This again.
Put a checkmark on these entries and hit "fix checked":

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://elite-glsex.net/homepage.php

O2 - BHO: DownloadRedirect Class - {00000000-6CB0-410C-8C3D-8FA8D2011D0A} - C:\Program Files\iMesh\iMesh5\iMeshBHO.dll

O2 - BHO: IeCatch2 Class - {A5366673-E8CA-11D3-9CD9-0090271D075B} - C:\PROGRA~1\FlashGet\jccatch.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: iMeshBar - {5345A7A9-805A-4923-B505-86B2FEBA3FE0} - C:\Program Files\iMeshBar\bar\1.bin\IMESHBAR.DLL

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [useful-soft] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchst.exe

Boot into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen)

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Now put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchst.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist.
If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

Exit the KillBox.

Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer.
Go to Tools > Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types."
Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Find and delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\iMesh
C:\Program Files\iMeshBar

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options.
On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
Click Apply then OK.

Empty the Recycle Bin.

Reboot, post a new log.

Fix this one:

O2 - BHO: IeCatch2 Class - {A5366673-E8CA-11D3-9CD9-0090271D075B} - C:\PROGRA~1\FlashGet\jccatch.dll (file missing)

Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

IMPORTANT: I highly recommend that you go to Windows Update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs" ASAP! This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows. Many baddies get on your machine by taking advantage of these vulnerabilities. As your machine stands now it is wide open to attack from all sorts of nasties. You need to get these updates IMMEDIATELY!

You can mark your thread "Solved" from the Thread Tools drop down menu.
