Windows XP SP2

Helping a friend I try to help her keep her computer clean. Went there tonight and I was going to update adware and spybot etc.
I got adware updated and ran and was clean
got all but one update on spybot but ran it and it had something I had not seen called LSAhere were three of them. I left them cause I didn't no if I should fix them or not. and then there were these that I would like to no what I check in spybot to ignore these they were
Windows Security Center Antivirus DisableNotify
Windows Security Center Firewall Disable Notify
Windows Security Center SP2 Update
Windows Security Center Update
and then the LSA THING

Then Norton started bringing up a virus warning about something called bloodhound.morphine. It said it could not repair it. I sawin the reports that it had tried to repair it a few times but did not.

It was in system files they were
C:\WINDOWS\system32\NDIS.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Tftp1050
I am pretty sure those were the files I wrote them down but lost the paper.
anyway so I went to where they were in system 32 and found them and ran a virus scan on just those files and they were infect with it as norton had said so I quartined them. Then norton came on and said there was an update since this virus got on there (which I had did) and to try to repair it again, I did and it didn't, so I kept them quarentined. I had clicked on the virus name on the norton window and it said the way I understood it that this was a new virus. It didn't sound like it had a fix for it. All it said was to turn system restore off and go to safe mode and run a full scan which I am doing now. Does anyone no anything about this virus? anyway to fix it? and what can I do with those quartined files? I can't delete them can I if they are system files? Any help would be most appreciated Thanks

I will try this again, I tried to put these on and it didn'[t make it so I will try again. I am adding a HJT Log from safe mode and an Ewido report. Ewido caught 66 infections and they were removed. Then I ran cleanup and there were 28,000 files deleted, temps etc. Anyway you can read my first thread and I am hoping someone will help when they get time. Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the Full Path of File to Delete box, copy and paste each of the following
lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the
X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confirmation to
delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have
copied and pasted all of these in the Paste Full Path of File to Delete box.



Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not
exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you
don't miss any.

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you
can delete it yourself.

also I would just like to knowm can you tell me what kind of files all those .bsx files are that ewido caught? I am wondering what kind of files they are or where they could have came from, can you enlighten me on that?

yes delete them with the killbox, see above, post 5. I guess .bsx: booked space, is just your general spyware baddies!

I did what you said, deleted those from HJT and used killbox but the files did not exist I could not get activescan to run so went to housecall and it started but got hung up so I gave up on them, I have ran enough programs I am convinced it is clean except if there is anything else in the hjt log. This is the last log I took after doing what you said , can you look at it for me? Thanks

I have two more short questions if you no, on my first thread regarding the
Windows Security Center Antivirus DisableNotify
Windows Security Center Firewall Disable Notify
Windows Security Center SP2 Update
Windows Security Center Update
and then the LSA THING
all in Spybot and then
on her computer when I click to open a file or like hjt or most other but not all programs when you click once or twice on them instead of opening the program or file it opens to the search window, where you select all files or whatever and search your computer for them. however on the same programs or files if you right click them and click open then it opens the way it should. Any idea what could be causeing that? and then how do you set things, I don't no how it changed but been this way for a while, when you open up a program the box it opens in is really small and the text is small to, I don't mean the small window where you can resize it I mean the whole thing, like when you click HJT to open it the box is really small and the sam with the other programsm is there a setting to reset that to normal?

in spybot, right click those entries or cluck them and have spybot ignore them, it just means you have disablled them yourself in windows security centre.

I want you to do a scan to make sure your clean.

try resetting your active X settings and then see if you can run a scan, if you can't download Mwav and run it after updating it!!

Note: this is a stand alone, it doesn't install to start/programmes.

Download Mwav, double click on it and it will extract to C:\kaspersky. Click
on the kaspersky folder and click on Kavupd, a black dos window will open
and it will update the programme for you, be patient it will take 5-10
minutes to download the new definitions. Once it's updated, click on mwavscan
to launch the programme.

Use the defaults of:

Memory
startup folders
Registry
system folders
services

Choose drive , all drives and, click scan all files
and then click scan/clean. After it finishes scanning and cleaning post
the log here with a new hijack this log.

Note: this is a very thorough scanner, it might take anything up to an hour
or more, depending on how many drives you have and how badly infected your
pc is.

what is spybot finding to do with LSA . Can you write the exact error or report.

I'm not clear about what your asking later? Is it hijack this and other programmes are opening up in a reduced size and it's hard to see what's what?

Sorry, she called me and said her daughter is leaving going back to Iowa city where she goes to school and is taking the computer with her, so I am doing the spybot so I can set it to ignore them. Sorry about the run together of my words in the last thread.
The LSA--There is 3 of them, they are all reg entries, all are HKEY_USERS and some numbers and then Current ControlSet\Control\LSA
Do you know what that is? can I ignore that to or something need to be done?

As far as things being small
It is all the programs open up real small

well, if it's not finding a specific threat in spybot just ignore it. run the Mwav scan and let her have the computer back.

they must have hit some setting to have everything opening up small!

after the scan , shut of system resore and ten re-enable it and make a new restore point!




you should now turn off system restore to flush out the bad restore points and
then re-enable it and make a new clean restore point.
