Solved: H.e.l.p P.l.z
When I reboot my Pc I get this message when the Pc comes back on ' windows cannot find 'syschost.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search. '.
As I've come to understand this is a Trojan, windows cannot find it as there is no Registry Key for it, I've looked.
I think that this is the remainder of a Trojan that was partially cleaned (I'm proberbly wrong).
This is what I have done to try and rectify a resolve:

*Scanned with Avg Free Edition .... Nothing found.
*Scanned with ZoneAlarm Security Suit .... Nothing found.
*Scanned with Xoftspy .... Nothing found.
*Scanned with Ewido AntiSpyware .... Nothing found.
*Msconfig/Startup .... Unchecked all.
*Searched for Registry Key relating to 'Syschost' .... Nothing found.
*Scanned with Panda Online .... Nothing found.

I'm all out of ideas, anything new would be excellent

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

It looks like you are running two anti-virus programs. That will cause problems so remove one or set it for on-demand only.


Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm

Hi Cybertech.
I've Uninstalled ZoneAlarm and AVG Free Edition, downloaded-Installed Avast 4.7.
I run a scan with Avast, it picked up a few things and deleted them.
I run HJT again and checked the boxes, clicked fix, then rebooted.
The message came up again on reboot.

It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore after removing malware:
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Restart the computer.

To create a new restore point:
  • Start go to All Programs
  • Accessories, System Tools and select System Restore.
  • In the System Restore wizard, select "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
  • Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup".
  • Click Create and you're done.
