Unhappy Spysheriff, etc. messed up computer. IE & Media Center not working.
I made the terrible mistake of trying to download a file off of a strange webpage & it caused me to get various spyware, viruses, etc. I was running free antivirus/firewall software such as Zonealarm & AVG (?), but
all hell broke loose anyway. I have all of the Microsoft Updates. I keep up with that. I don't have Internet Explorer 7. I don't like it. I do have full versions of the Virus & firewall programs installed now by Zonealarm & a ton of other programs that I download & ran before I made a posting. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm beyond upset with my computer being messed up. :-(

Here is the Hijack this report:

================================================
Here are some other problems that I'm having:

1) Internet Explorer doesn't work & hasn't been working since all of these viruses/spyware. When I click on it from the start menu, I get this message: Missing Shortcut -- Windows is searching for iexplore.exe. To locate the file yourself, click Browse.

I originally was getting this message:

Cannot find file:///c:/secure32.html

2) When I boot up my system or reboot, I get this message:

Winlogon.exe - Unable to locate component. ---This application has failed to start because sfc_os.dll wasn't found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

3) I thought that I could re-install Internet Explorer from my original Windows discs, but I get this when trying to install it:

Windows XP Setup -- Setup cound not copy one or more files. The specific error code os Oxd. Press ok to continue or cancel to stop setup and try again. If you continue, the components may not function properly.

4) Media Center doesn't work when I click on it. I get this error message:

ehshell.exe - Common Language Runtime debugging Services.
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process Ox218 (536) Thread id=Oxc50 (3152). (Ok & cancel are my choices to click on)

I selected one of them (can't remember which) and then got this message:

ehshell.exe - No debuggger found. --Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted in an error of Ox2(2). Please check computer settings.

cordbg.exe!aOx218

Click on retry to have the process wait while while attaching a debugger manually. Click cancel to abort the JIT debug request.

--
Then I get the 'Needs to close" do you want to send the error to Microsoft message. So I can't watch TV or watch any of my recorded programs.

--
Yeah, what a mess. Also, in order to install programs & run them onto my killed computer, I had to download them onto this working old computer here, send them through my e-mail to the killed computer & then the files would not open because the program that they were from was not recognized or something like that, so I had to burn them to a CD on the killed computer & open them from there. Nutz.

I hope that I've given enough info to be helped with all of these problems. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

=================================
I still have the same other problems, such as Internet Explorer not working & Media Center not working either. I tried to re-install IE, but I still get the same message:

Windows XP Setup -- Setup cound not copy one or more files. The specific error code is Oxd. Press ok to continue or cancel to stop setup and try again. If you continue, the components may not function properly.

I wish I understood what to do. More help would be GREATLY appreciated. (Happy New Year by the way!!)

IEFix didn't work because iexplore.exe or something was missing. To make a long story short, I spent more HOURS searching the web for info on all of these crazy problems that I've been having & I was able to install Internet Explorer 7 and get it to work (I HATE it, but couldn't get 6 again) and I was able to download & put the file sfc_os.dll in it's correct place. Do I know what I was doing? Not really... but, I only have 1 problem left.

Media Center still doesn't work. I still get the message:

ehshell.exe - Common Language Runtime debugging Services.
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process 0xf7c (3964) Thread id=0xb30 (2864). (Ok & cancel are my choices to click on)

after I double click on it to open. I click "ok" to close the message window & then I get a ZoneAlarm Security Alert "Suspicious Behavior"
Media Center is trying to launch C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe, or use another program to gain access to privileged resources. Application: ehshell.exe

Uh, I have no idea what that all means. ?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as always. I did try to remove some windows updates & even re-installed the service pack 2, but those things didn't work. Ugh. :-(

Yep, that's what I'm running, Windows Xp Media Center 2005. I've been to Microsoft there & have tried to download several things, but nothing has worked. I even re-downloaded the service pack 2, which didn't change a thing. These viruses/spyware really did it this time! Poop. :-(
