The red shield is still at the bottom of my computer. I don't know how to read avenger or HJT files, but it looked like avenger said it couldn't delete the Trojan Guard file because it couldn't find it. But when I pulled up a HJT scan, it was there like you said and I fixed it. On the 2nd HJT file as you can see, it's not there, but when I go to my "START" menu and then "ALL PROGRAMS", I can see TROJAN GUARD GOLD. When I highlight it and click on "PROPERTIES" it tells me it's in my "PROGRAM FILES" but when I got to the program files folder I can't find it. When I try to delete it from the spot where I see it, the computer tells me that I can only delete the "icon" and that I'd have to go to the Add/Remove Programs file. When I do that, it isn't there.

Does that make any sense to you?

Thanks again for being patient with all this. I wish I wasn't as computer illiterate as I am and I could be of more service.

Download WinPFind3U.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind3u on your desktop.
  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
    • In the Processes group click ALL
    • In the Win32 Services group click ALL
    • In the Driver Services group click ALL
    • In the Registry group click ALL
    • In the Files Created Within group click 60 days Make sure Non-Microsoft only is UNCHECKED
    • In the Files Modified Within group select 30 days Make sure Non-Microsoft only is UNCHECKED
    • In the File String Search group select ALL
in the Additional scans sections please press select ALL
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Save that notepad file but click on the "Format" menu and make sure that "word wrap" is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Upload the report as an attachment please.

Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
Copy and paste the information in the quote box below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.
Then reboot and post a new HijackThis log please.

Then do this

Download ComboFix to your Desktop.

Reboot to Safe mode:

Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load. If done properly a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear. Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter.

Perform the following actions in Safe Mode.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running as that may cause it to stall

If it makes any difference, the little red shield with the white "X" is still on the bottom of my toolbar.

I'm sorry this is such a pain for you!

There are a lot of dodgy files that I'd like to get analyzed

Go to the forum here: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/index.php?board=1.0
Upload this (these) file(s):

C:\WINDOWS\EReg072.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\6665.bat
C:\Program Files\uy.exe
C:\Program Files\Video.exe
C:\Program Files\Track_03.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\7333.bat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\7043.bat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sys_dll.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\8710.bat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\n.bat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\x.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\affv9869p2now.sys

Here are the directions for uploading the files:

Just click "New Topic", fill in the needed details and post a link to your thread here. Click the "Browse" button. Navigate to the file on your computer. When the file is listed in the window click "Post" to upload the file.

Okay good. Hopefully they will get analyzed soon. They look suspicious.

Might be silly
This might be a silly question because I don't know much about computers, but why can't we just delete the files in question and be done with it?

We could. As long as they are not files that actually belong to a functioning legit program.
They could be deleted and just have them sit in the Recycle Bin for a day or 2 to make sure everything is still wotking properly.

So what do you think?
What would you do? Try and see what happens? I'm open to anything. If we delete them how would we do it?
