Unhappy CiD pop-ups....I need to get rid of them!
I'm having problems deleting CiD. There is no section in Add/Remove programs, so I can't uninstall it. It seems to be connected to my McAfee, since a McAfee info bubble pops up when one of their pop-ups hijacks the screen.

I tried using No-lop. exe and AVG anti-spyware, no dice.

Download FindLop by Metallica.
Unzip it to your desktop.
Double click findlop.bat. It will open a notepad file.
Copy the contents of that file and paste it here in your reply.

Unfortunately there's nothing, I found an error.

It said 'jt' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. This is in the C:\Windows\sytem32\cmd.exe.

Then a blank notepad opens up.

  1. Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  2. A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  3. Enter your Country
  4. Enter your State/Province
  5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
  6. Select either Home User or Company
  7. Click the big Scan Now button
  8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  10. When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  11. When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Save it to your desktop

    Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

    Under Main choose: Select All

    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All

    Click the Empty Selected button.

  • Double-click on OTMoveIt.exe to launch the program.

Hiya sjpritch25, thanks so much for the help.
Below is the new log file and so far so good. I'll give you an update in about 2 days, because I tried cleaning up before and within a few hours, I had the problems again. So I'll tell you on Saturday how's it going with it. But so far, I'm so glad, this is taken care of, I was going loco and I really appreciate all your help.

good, open Otmoveit and click on the Cleanup icon. If you have a Firewall installed you will need to allow it to access the internet. Cleanup will remove all the programs we downloaded to fix your computer.

Your Welcome!!!!

Now that your system is clean you should SET A NEW RESTORE POINT to prevent future reinfection from the old restore point AFTER cleaning your system of any malware infection. Any trojans or spyware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore and are waiting to re-infect you. Since System Restore is a protected directory, your tools can not access it to delete files, trapping viruses inside. Setting a new restore point should be done to prevent any future reinfection from the old restore point and enable your computer to "roll-back" in case there is a future problem.

To SET A NEW RESTORE POINT:
1. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
2. Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
3. Then go to Start > Run and type: Cleanmgr
4. Click "OK".
5. Click the "More Options" Tab.
6. Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

  1. Most important thing is to make sure Windows is kept up to date with the latest patches and updates from Windows Update.
  2. If you don't have a Firewall installed, please choose from the following:
    1. ZoneAlarm Free
    2. Kerio Personal Firewall
  3. If you don't have a Anti-Virus installed, please download the following free program:
    1. AntiVir Personal Edition
  4. Here are two great Preventive programs:
    1. SpywareBlaster protects you from malicious ActiveX controls and cookies. Make sure and check for updates twice a month.
    2. IESpyads adds a long list of bad sites to your Restricted sites in Internet Explorer and protects against drive by downloads.
  5. Surf Safe with McAfee's SiteAdisor. SiteAdisor will work with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. SiteAdisor is a browser plugin that assigns a safety rating to domains listed in your search engine. SiteAdvisor uses the following color codes to indicate the safety level of each site.
    1. Red for Warning
    2. Yellow for Use Caution
    3. Green for Safe
    4. Grey for Unknown
