Well before there was only mine, but i must have created a second one awhile ago called administrator somehow because there are 2.

It has been there for awhile though, im sure i created it when i was trying to get rid of a 'zlob trojan' awhile back

However it only shows in safe mode, when i put the computer on standby and have to click on a username to sign back in, only mine is there, but when i start computer in safe mode, theres administrator and my name.

**i just went in and checked user accounts under the control panel and it only shows mine and guest, guest is turned off.

under my name it says 'computer administrator'

ComboFix has been updated and is available again so please remove the one you have and redownload it.

Download ComboFix and save it to your desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have ComboFix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick comboFix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Open Notepad and copy and paste the text in the quote box below into it:

Quote:
File::
C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\a.zip
Save the file to your desktop and name it CFScript.txt

Then drag the CFScript.txt into the ComboFix.exe as shown in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. It may ask to reboot. Post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Can you tell me anything about this zip file?

C:\Documents and Settings\various installers\wrar34b4.zip

I assume the various installers folder is one you created yourself so do you know what that particular zip file is?

Various installers are the installation programs for things like, quicktime, itunes etc.
I made it after i deleted nero trying to fix my cd drive, and couldnt re install it until i got a new cd drive. So i figured if i saved my installer files in one folder it would make life easier instead of having to re-download everything, as i was on dial up at the time.

Its the installation file for win rar, a friend sent to me, i think it was the limited trial version though, he said it would do the job, but it wasnt the full program.
Everytime i open winrar it tells me its shareware and it needs to be registered for full version.

Is it whats causing the problem?

No, that file would not be a problem. I just wanted to check to be sure that's what it was.

I'm attaching a Fix bEC.zip file. Save it to your desktop. Unzip it and double click the bEC.reg file and allow it to enter the registry.

Click here to download ATF Cleaner by Atribune and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
    • If you use Firefox:
      • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
      • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    • If you use Opera:
      • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
      • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
  • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

I see you already have Ewido but it's been replaced by AVG Anti-Spyware so please remove Ewido via the Control Panel and then proceed with the following:

Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware v7.5. Note to AVG Free anti-virus program users only: This is not the same program as the one you already have, this is an anti-spyware program so please proceed with the instructions.
  • After download, double click on the file to launch the install process.
  • Choose a language, click "OK" and then click "Next".
  • Read the "License Agreement" and click "I Agree".
  • Accept default installation path: C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, click "Next", then click "Install".
  • After setup completes, click "Finish" to start the program automatically or launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking its icon on your desktop or in the system tray.
  • The main "Status" menu will appear. Select "Change state" to inactivate 'Resident Shield' and 'Automatic Updates'. As AVG Anti-Spyware may interfere with some of our other fixes, we are temporarily disabling its active protection features until your system is clean, then you can re-enable them.
  • Then right click on AVG Anti-Spyware in the system tray and uncheck "Start with Windows".
  • Connect to the Internet, go back to AVG Anti-Spyware, select the "Update" button and click "Start update".
Wait until you see the "Update successful" message. If you are having problems with the updater, manually download and update with the AVG Anti-Spyware Full database installer.
  • Exit AVG Anti-Spyware when done - DO NOT perform a scan yet.
Reboot your computer in SAFE MODE using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode". (Note: When run in safe mode, sometimes the GUI is larger than the screen and the buttons at the bottom are partly or completely hidden, making them inaccessible for doing a scan. If this happens press Alt + Spacebar. A menu will come open, make sure you select maximize then run the scan. If that does not help, then you may have to run your scan in normal mode and advise your helper afterwards.)

Scan with AVG Anti-Spyware as follows:
  • Click on the "Scanner" button and choose the "Settings" tab.
  • Under "How to act?", click on "Recommended actions" and choose "Quarantine" to set default action for detected malware.
  • Under "How to Scan? ", "Possibly unwanted software", and What to Scan?" leave all the default settings.
  • Under "Reports" select "Do not automatically generate reports".
  • Click the "Scan" tab to return to scanning options.
  • Click "Complete System Scan" to start.
  • When the scan has finished, it should automatically be set to Quarantine--if not click on Recommended Action and set it there.
  • You will also be presented with a list of infected objects found. Click "Apply all actions" to place the files in Quarantine.
IMPORTANT! Do not save the report before you have clicked the :Apply all actions button. If you do, the log that is created will indicate "No action taken", making it more difficult to interpret the report. So be sure you save it only AFTER clicking the "Apply all actions" button.
  • Click on "Save Report" to view all completed scans. Click on the most recent scan you just performed and select "Save report as" - the default file name will be in date/time format as follows: Report-Scan-20060620-142816.txt. Save to your desktop. A copy of each report will also be saved in C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\Reports\
  • Exit AVG Anti-Spyware when done, reboot normally and post the log report in your next response.
Note: Close all open windows, programs, and DO NOT USE the computer while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning. Doing so can hamper AVG Anti-Spyware's ability to clean properly and may result in reinfection.

Reboot to Windows normally and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware scan along with a new HijackThis log and the results of a new Panda scan (do the Panda scan last). please.

As you saying that the TaskManager process itself (taskmgr.exe) is using 100% of the cpu? If not, what process is?

When i click on task manager to open it (right click in tray) it jumps to 100% in the cpu tab, then goes back down.

Before, it was running at 100% in the cpu tab constantly, but i didnt check the processes, i restarted and it was ok.

I was reading that 20-30 processes was ok, i just thought 47 was a bit high, thats all.

The page file usage is around 275 mb, if that means anything.

its also running 7 svchost.exe, 2 are local service, 2 are system, and the rest are network.

also, when open my email (hotmail) it says windows firewall is blocking msn and should it keep blocking, i click on keep blocking.

**it just happened again, i checked processes and it was iexplore that was using 99%, i ended it, the explorer window closed and it went back to normal.
i was changing from my home page (bigpond) to here when it happened**

I'm attaching FixbEC2.zip. Save it to your desktop. Unzip it and double-click the FixbEC2.reg file and allow it to enter into the registry. That should fix the Hotmail problem. If you want to access Hotmail, you can't block MSN.

Multiple svchost.exe files is normal.

Let me know how things are after you run the regfix and reboot the machine.
