Ran the software and rebooted. No Internet yet.

Tried installing updates again but the first three failed so I stopped it.

Sorry but the site that's hosting that fix is down so we can't use it.

Let's run chkdsk.

Click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so run it when you don't need to use the computer for something else.

Go to Start - Run and type in eventvwr.msc, and hit enter.
When Event Viewer opens, click on "Application", then scroll
down to "Winlogon" and double-click on it to open it up. This is the log
created after running chkdsk. Click on the icon that looks like two pieces of paper to copy it and then paste it here please.

Yes. You should then be able to paste it into MS Paint and save it on your hard drive before uploading it here.

Sorr.y, I am lost.

I clicked on the two pcs of paper and then went into MS Paint (for the first time ever) but could not find a way to paste into that program.

When you click the icon that looks like two pieces of paper, you won't actually see anything happen. It's like clicking on "copy". So when you open Paint, you just have to click on "Edit" and "paste" and it should appear there.

I doesn't get saved automatically, you have to save it. When you paste it into Paint, click on File "save as", give it a name and save it.

I don't like that "bad sectors" part.

Please go to Start - Run - type in eventvwr.msc to open the event viewer. Look under both "Application" and "System" for recent (the last 48 hours or so) errors (shown in red) and if found, do this for each one.

Double-click the error to open it up and then click on the icon that looks like two pieces of paper. This will copy the full error. Then "paste" the error into Notepad. Do this for each one until you have them all listed in Notepad and then copy and paste the list in a reply here please.

Please follow the instructions carefully. You were to post only "errors" (not "warnings" and "information") and you were to open them. What you have posted is simply the list but it doesn't give us the full details of each specific error. Please double-click to open the errors and then click on the icon that looks like two pieces of paper. Doing that is the same as using "copy". Then open Notepad and "paste" each error that you opened there until you have them all. Don't go back more than a few days though because if the errors are not repeating they should no longer be significant.
