Go to Start ---> Control Panel ---> Click on Display----> Just change the background to whatever you want. That should fix it. The hardware thing have you installed any new hardware??

No I have not installed any new hardware. It's strange. The wizard only appears when I start the computer. It says that the new hardware is multimedia audio controller. But other than that the computer is working beautifully. Thank you so much for your help. Do you recommend any program besides Symantec I should run regularly to prevent this malware from disturbing my computer again? Thanks again!

i recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

You can delete OTScanit from your Desktop.

Now that your system is clean you should SET A NEW RESTORE POINT to prevent future reinfection from the old restore point AFTER cleaning your system of any malware infection. Any trojans or spyware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore and are waiting to re-infect you. Since System Restore is a protected directory, your tools can not access it to delete files, trapping viruses inside. Setting a new restore point should be done to prevent any future reinfection from the old restore point and enable your computer to "roll-back" in case there is a future problem.

To SET A NEW RESTORE POINT:
1. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
2. Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
3. Then go to Start > Run and type: Cleanmgr
4. Click "OK".
5. Click the "More Options" Tab.
6. Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

I have one more issue with my computer. So far it has been working great. The speed is back to where it was originally. I am running Symantec, Malwarebytes regularly. However when I do a full scan using Symantec, Adware.purityscan keeps showing up, Action: Reboot required - Partial, Count: 4, File Name: java.exe, Risk Type: Adware, Original location: windows\mbols~1\

When I go to the original location I cannot find the source. Does this mean that my computer is still infected with with adware purityscan adware? If so, is there a way of getting rid of it?

When you navigate to C:\WINDOWS there should be two symbols folders. Look for the one that just has java.exe. Let me know if you find that one.

i only see one symbols folder and it is empty. there is a java folder with two folders (classes, trustlib) but those are empy as well.
