Hello, I was recently infected after my brother downloaded some files from my computer. As soon as the download completed, my virus scanner (Avast trial version) went crazy. I removed the detected threats (10 or more) but there were still 2 .dll files created in the c:/windows/system32 directory. They were named ljjdwohb.dll and mlJdeBTL.dll.

The .dll files were detected by a watchdog program I have (BillP Studios WinPatrol), but my scanner wasn’t picking them up. WinPatrol said they were new IE explorer toolbar add-ons. After doing a full system scan, Avast detected one of them but couldn’t delete it, and another scanner (TrojanHunter) also detected one of them but again couldn’t delete it (I believe it was identified as a vundo trojan).

The viruses caused my computer to run incredibly slow, even in safe mode. Other symptoms included system freezing and forced restart messages.

So, I uninstalled Avast, tried a few more scanners, then installed AVG 8.0 Trial version (internet security suite). AVG was able to detect the 2 .dll files along with some other threats. However, once I restarted my computer, I was unable to access the internet. I rebooted in safe mode (with networking) and it worked fine, so I uninstalled AVG and internet access started working again.

Now I’m here with this HJT log, no antivirus program, and the possibility that virus infections are still present on my system. I was wondering if someone could look at my log and tell me if they suspect infections are still present. Also, what steps can I take to ensure that all infections have been removed by AVG? Lastly, what antivirus program would you recommend for future protection? I apologize if this post is too lengthy, I just wanted to get all the information out. Thanks for any help you can offer.
