Post Vundo?
Hi guys
sorry if this is in the wrong thread or format, but as will become clear, it took a bit of posting.

I picked up the Vundo trojan earlier in the week, with all the niceties that go with it. I downloaded and bought a copy of Spyware Doctor, which appears to have dealt with that problem, however, since then, my internet connection is acting as though I have returned to the days of 28k dial up. When trying to sort the vundo problem, I cleared all my cookies, history and cache etc, so was expecting some things to be a little slower, but at the moment I can't even load some sites, ebay for example just hangs forever, whilst most will load whilst I make a cup of coffee (here for example) and an odd few sites behave normally.

I'm running Windows XP home on a 1.8Gig Turon laptop. Ecerything else seem fine, and indeed quicker than before, it's just surfing that is the problem with both Firefox and IE.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A belated welcome to TSG badbee,

I will need to see what all is loaded there before we might discuss solutions. If you still have not resolved the problem, go ahead and download HijackThis from Here. Then click on the downloaded file to install HijackThis. After it is installed open HijackThis and select Do a system scan and save logfile. Use copy/paste and post that log back here for review.

Also Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your protective software queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here. Here are guidelines for using Silent Runners. You can use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files if needed.
