I did as you asked, the computer seems to be working well, I still have all but my fire wall disabled as I am not sure if I will need to run any other scans.
I do notice that takes a while from the time i turn the computer on till the sign in screen pops up.
Also wanted to know the best way to safely remove InCD , Safely Remove Hardware
and Windows Genuine Advantage, from the notification area to help speed up the loading of McAfee and SuperAntiSpyware. can I use HJT? There is currently nothing under Programs that relates to the notification area and I saw at CastleCops that most of the start up stuff IE 04, in the HJT log is not needed and can be removed as the programs they refer to can be accessed at any time.Is this true and can you make any recommendations as to the best way to do this, once we are done?

Open HijackThis and click on "Config" and then on the "Misc Tools" button. If you're viewing HijackThis from the Main Menu then click on "Open the Misc Tools Section". Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button. Click the "Save List" button. Copy and paste that list here please.

I cant, when I "Save List" it opens a box marked "Save Add/Remove Software list to disk...", the same list of folders as my "My Documents" list less a tool bar. When I try to right click to save all or copy I am not given a choice to do so.The file name is listed as "uninstall_list and Text files (*.txt) reads under Save as type.My roommates have also noticed our WiFi is out?

After the scan, HJT opens that box. All you have to do is save it there either in "My Documents" or on the Desktop. Then open it up and copy and paste it here please.

If you have the Windows Genuine Advantage icon in the system tray, what happens when you double-click on it? Is this a legal operating system?

Also, if you have the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray, if you open it does it indicate there is hardware there? If so, stop it and then wait until it says you can remove it safely and then you should be able to close it.

Since you also mentioned the InCD icon, is it possible you still have files waiting to be written to a CD?

Or it could be your Apple Mobile Device was not disconnected properly.

I was given the computer a year ago by a friend and six months ago I had a message about the last windows update available to me, I updated and W,G,A has been bugging
me eve since. No, I don't think My windows is still legal but it was.
Under safely remove hardware my cable modem box is listed and I don't really want to have any problems with my hook up , so I guess I will suffer on.
Nothing in line to be written by INCD. ????????
If I just have to deal with it I can but it sounds like we may be done Malware wise, if so
please let me know so that i may bring all my scanning security back on line. One last thing I noticed a program under "programs" that was not there before and I don't remember downloading it unless it came with something you asked me to download.
The program is "PATH COPY" I have no clue what this is or where it came from?
Thanks.

Nothing I've had you download would create that program Path Copy.

Are there other users on this computer?

Please go to Start - Run - type in eventvwr.msc to open the event viewer. Look under both "Application" and "System" for recent (the last 48 hours or so) errors (shown in red) and if found, do this for each one.

Double-click the error to open it up and then click on the icon that looks like two pieces of paper. This will copy the full error. Then "paste" the error into Notepad. Do this for each one until you have them all listed in Notepad and then copy and paste the list in a reply here please.

There seem to be some problems with Diskeeper.

Please open HijackThis.
Click on Open Misc Tools Section
Make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:
  • List all minor sections(Full)
  • List Empty Sections(Complete)
Click Generate StartupList Log.
Click Yes at the prompt.
It will open a text file. Please copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.

Everything looks fine there.

Do you have the media to uninstall and reinstall Diskeeper?

If so, try uninstalling it and see if the problem persists.

As far as malware is concerned, all looks fine but would you post a final HijackThis log please?

Also, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware quarantined a component of McAfee which was a false positive so open MBAM and click on "Quarantine", select the following entry and click in Restore.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Network Associates Error Reporting Service
