Thanks for the pass, was fun playing some of the games

Okay, when you are in looking at the site, rightclick on something (an actual game may be the only way) and you will see the Settings for Adobe Flash Player. Do you have Enable Hardware Acceleration ticked or not?

It all loaded fine for me.

See if this helps:

Control Panel | Internet Options. Security tab.

Click Default Settings, Apply and OK

Also, just for the test purposes, close AVG before you go into the site, by Right-clicking on the icon near your clock and Exiting it.

Does that help?

i'll try each of those things individually when i get home to see what might help, and i'll report back tonight with my results.

thanks, as always!!

boy, i was sure this was going to do it, but there were miniscule changes.

1. unticked the hardware acceleration thingy - now when Arte talks, his voice and mouth are synced. but, the Wheel of Wow still goes in slow motion, as does just about everything else. timers that count down take about 3 seconds of real time per 1 clock second on the site.

2. disabled AVG & clicked default on the security settings, with no change.

3. went to the system-wide setting for hardware acceleration and turned that all the way down, with no change.

4. (hope this wasn't jumping ahead) per the Adobe site, if videos run slowly after adjusting the hardware acceleration, user should check for updates to the drivers on the video card. this took me like 4 hours to find a driver for my Velocity 128 card that might be newer than what i had, which also worked with XP. installed that and arghhh! NO CHANGE!

then i went to bed. boo.

i'm kind of getting the impression that my card is too old to work with current versions of Flash Player - or not very compatible with XP. is this something i can upgrade? how do i know if it's integrated or can be swapped out? should i try an older version of Flash? any other suggestions?

thanks for hanging in there with me, you guys

Did we ever figure out if you have onboard video or an add in card?

i don't know how to tell. i am not even sure what the MB or video card looks like. this is the mftr'r site with the drivers:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/riva_drivers

i think this is it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/GATEWAY-VELOCITY...QQcmdZViewItem

here are some specs:
http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Stb-STB-...ty-128-AGP-4MB

i ran a dxdiag thingy last night - i can post the log later if it will help.

my mother board info is in post #10

Is there another place where you can plug your monitor into on the back of your computer? I'm sorry, I don't have time to look for the specs on your mobo. As I mentioned, I used to have one, but, it's been awhile.

i didn't mean for you to look up my stuff...just tossing info out that might be relevant or helpful.

" Is there another place where you can plug your monitor into on the back of your computer?"

i don't believe so...

here's a picture of the back and the inside. also got a picture of the label on what i believe is the video card in case that helps answer the question.

i'm thinking that if i can't get this last stick of RAM to work, i might have an extra $30 or so to spend on a video card if this is one that can be replaced (and assuming that would help my situation)

happy weekend!

It doesn't appear that you have onboard video then. Try moving the ram around. You may have one chip that isn't totally secure in the slot.

in the bios it showed a total of 780MB with the 3 slots filled, but the boot up stalled at the point where the system was looking for Windows

(just like that one person described in that thread i linked where they said they had to change the clocking from 2 to 3 - still trying to figure out where to do that, but i figured i'd best contact Crucial for advice on that)

oops - i mean 768MB

also...forgot to ask - "doesn't appear that you have onboard video" - does that mean it can or cannot be replaced?

Looks like it may be hardware related, I'll see what Candy can see

Just out of curiosity, did the sites ever work for you, or has it just recently happened?

Can you play on this game:

hi eddie! hey candy

okay...to answer your questions...

yes, i can play goldmine. the seconds seem to tick at normal speed. (i also played tetris & bowling, but couldn't find a control to change the ball position. and btw, i sucked at all 3!)

no, i cannot start in safe mode with all 3 sticks of RAM installed. but if my flash issue isn't related to RAM, then i think i'm doing ok with the 512 i have in there now...

what's the verdict on the video card upgrade? is that an option? or are there other things to check?
