Exclamation HELP!!! Hijackthis Log
I have been running malwarebytes' ant-malware trying to remove addon.dat. It keeps coming back after it's been removed. I just ran malwarebytes' again to remove it. The following is my hijackthis log. Please review and let me know how I can remove this.

Download OTScanIt.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTScanIt, allow it to run.
  3. Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  4. Select the following Scan Options
  1. Drivers
    Non-Microsoft
  2. Rootkit Search
    Yes
  • Select the following Additional Scan Options
  1. Additional Folder Scans
  2. Purity Scan
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Save that notepad file
If the log is too large to post, use the Reply button, scroll down to the attachments section and attach the notepad file here.

The link you provided me for OTScanIt does not work. I receive a 404 Error message. I did find another working link, however, the application seems to be different. The options were not the same as the ones you suggested. I ran it anyway with the similar options (at least what I think are similar). Attached is a print screen of the one I downloaded along with the options I chose. I have also attached the OTScanIt log as well.

Thank you for helping with this matter.

jester7378,
Did you purposely add things to your HOSTs file?

Do you connect to the internet via a proxy server?

We have our hosts files setup with static ip addresses.

As far as connecting to the internet, we do not connect through a proxy server...I don't think. I checked the settings on Firefox and Internet Explorer, and they are set up not to use a proxy server.

I know that you are probably busy with other people's issues, but the Malwarebytes doesn't work. It removes the addon.dat file, but the file comes back after I reboot. Is there anything else I can do to remove this?

I'm sorry for the delay, i've had some computer issues the past two-three days. Let me check why its not being removed. In the meantime, lets run this to check for rootkits.

Download GMER Antirootkit and uzip it to a folder that you create such as C:\Gmer\:
http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip

Now, we'll perform a Gmer rootkit scan (quick method):
  • Double-click gmer.exe to run the program.
  • When the program opens, Gmer will automatically initiate a very fast scan of common rootkit hiding places.
  • When the scan is finished (a few seconds), click Copy to save the scan log to the Windows clipboard
  • Open Notepad or a similar text editor
  • Paste the clipboard contents into a text file by clicking Edit | Paste or Ctl V
  • Exit Gmer
  • Save the gmer scan log and post it in your next reply.

Also, i would like to see the log from this program.

1. Go HERE and download File Lister.
Save it to your Desktop
Rt Click ->> Extract all ->> And extract it to your Desktop
Additional help on extracting zip files can be found HERE
Open the File Lister Folder.
Rt Click FileLister.vbe ->>Select Open Then Open to confirm.
As the program runs, it will appear that nothing is happening.
When the program is fnished it will produce a log for you C:\Files.txt
Copy and paste the contents of that log in your reply.

Okay, looks like the file is locked with permissions. Lets try to do it manually.

Download the attached file Jester.zip, Extract/Unzip swxcalcs.exe to C:\Windows and Extract fix.bat to your Desktop. Double-Click fix.bat and follow any prompts. Reboot your computer.

Run another scan with Mbam and post the log. Let me know if you run into any problems. Thanks
