I got your private message and have looked at this log.

I'm not a malware expert, but I don't see anything obviously suspicious.

Let's see if a malware expert responds and advises.

Uninstall Spybot - Search & Destroy and then delete its folder from inside the C:\Program Files folder.

Go here to download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Just install it and update it. Don't run a scan yet.

Ok...I'll wait....Can't do much on this compuer without the resident AVG Shield popping up every 2 seconds. I did install the Malwarebytes and I'll await instructions.

I'd like to try a few things, but a malware expert needs to look at your log first and give you any needed instructions. I've reported this thread for a response. This is a very busy section, and they get overwhelmed at times. Be patient.

Run the AVG8 scan in regular mode. There's no need to do it in safe mode. It'll probably take over an hour.

I don't see anything either but not everything shows in a HijackThis log.

What is AVG detecting?

Please go ahead and update and run MalwareBytes and then post the log.

AVG us detecting C:\Windows\System32\SKYNETemrjvnet.dll If you highlight it and tell it to heal it or put it in the vault it says that doing that may crash the system. It keeps coming up over and over againl. I'm going ot try to run the MalwareBytes, but it was stopping during the scan.

malwarebytes couldn't run because the resident shield kept popping up and stopped it. I'm going to try to run it again.

I can't run anything because of the resident shield popping up with the infected warning. It stops the other programs. I can't find where I can disable avg temporarily either.... so that I can run the scans. Please advise.

Rosemary:

Let's get AVG out of the mix for now so you can run a scan with Malwarebytes for Cybertech.

Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG and then click OK - "Startup"(tab).

Remove the checkmark in the AVG - - - entry and then click Apply - OK - Exit Without Restart.

Click Start - Run, type in SERVICES.MSC and then click OK.

Expand the window so you can see the list of entries.

Double-click on one of the AVG - - - entries.

Change the setting from Automatic to Manual and then click Apply - OK.

Repeat the steps with the other AVG - - - entry.

Close the window and then restart your computer.

When the small System Configuration Utility window appears on the desktop, put a checkmark in that window and then click OK.

AVG is now disabled and you should be able to run a scan with Malwarebytes.

I disabled avg as you instructed and ran malwarebytes. Malware stopped responding when it got to c:\windows\system32\config\software_previous and wouldn't go any further. Nothing came up as infected. This definitely seems like a virus and not malware/spyware.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Kaspersky online scanner uses JAVA tecnology to perform the scan. If you do not have Java then you will need to go to the following link and download the latest version:

JRE 6 Update 13

Instructions for Kaspersky scan:
  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure the following is checked.
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply.

Well, shucks!

I figured disabling AVG would allow Malwarebytes to do an uninterrupted scan.
