Using Windows XP

At startup, I encounter the error: Google Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Firefox and MSIE will not open.

Some startup attempts fail -- windows will not load. Currently in safe mode.

When Firefox opened, I was having redirect problems. ATF would work for a few minutes, then the problem would return. I cannot install MBAM or HJT. They show up temporarily in the process list, but then disappear.

I finally got MBAM to work this afternoon, and began removing Antivirus 2009. Each scan came up with a particular file to be deleted on reboot, which always came back:

uacinit.dll

I am also dealing with the frequent "Google Installer has encountered an error..." thing.

And UpdClient.exe -- instruction at 0x7c88411ee referenced memory at 0x00000000 -- memory could not be written. If I read correctly, that's from running Zone Alarm, but I don't want to disable that unless you say it's ok.
