Hi.

I am running Vista SP2 with IE8. I have noticed some very strange things happening (ie, programs opening themselves at startup in the same configuration they were prior to being closed the night before shutting down) and I have lately observed that internet explorer uses HUGE, HUGE memory consistently. (Currently, with two tabs of explorer open, task manager says that I have FIVE instances of iexplorer.exe running, using 153,008 K, 68,220 k, 57, 260 K, 19,960 K, and 15,412 K of memory, respectively. This seems a tad excessive, given the two sites I am currently on.) . Of course I believe I must have spyware all up and through my system. I have run AdAware, and it never seems to find more than cookies. I know I have disabled but not removed a number of ie toolbars, and I started to install the VIPRE software but got scared as soon as it began to install itself...I didn't want an antivirus program...just spyware removal...so I stopped THAT install, tried to uninstall it, but based on my Hijack This log, I didn't even do THAT effectively.

I guess the bottom line is that I am not sure what the bottom line is and I don't have the faintest idea where to start. I am going to paste my Hijack this log...I've already posted my computer specs to my profile...and I'm truly hoping for assistance. Know that I take directions well if in fact anyone can pin down what my trouble might be.

PS...Is it normal for Adobe Photoshop to use 623,000K of memory during normal operation? Oy.

PPS...I just noticed that my "computer specs" info...which I pasted from a log I got from a desktop "Dell Support" utility, doesn't list McAfee Security Suite, which is the antivirus program I am running.
