I've been noticing prompts that "Windows Police Pro has found a threat" on my computer. After reading a couple posts about other people's problems with the spyware Windows Police Pro they were told to restart their computer and run it in Safemode. Unfortunately the Dell tower I have in my bedroom is having a problem even getting to the Safemode option screen. I can get into the BIOS but that is about it. Anyone got a solution?

Correction on the previous statement; the 'Safemode' option screen is able to be reached. However, when selecting to run in 'Safemode' or any of the other options (i.e. ...enable boot logging, enable VGA mode, last known good configuration...), what people have come to call the "Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)" shows up and disappears within a second then cycles the computer back to the first screen you see when turning on the computer where you can press F2, F12, or F8. Anyone know how to get past the BSOD?

Are you still able to get to your desktop in normal mode?

The computer just does a "Boot loop" when it attempts to load windows. And if I hit F8 in the beginning screen it will send me to the Safemode option screen and any of those options just send me to the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). Think you can help? I was just going to say screw it and reformat but I got some stuff on there I don't want to lose.

when you press F8 did you try Last known good configuration?

Yes I did, just sent me back to the first screen.

Do you have a Windows XP disc? We can try and fix this, but it might be fairly techinical. Are you Game.

Sweet, found the disk just now. Let's just see how hard it gets. If I get stuck I might just take some digital photos and have you direct me on what to do. Thank goodness the disk is still here!

Boot your computer up again. Press F8 a couple times and Advanced Option menu shall appear. Under the safe mode options, choose disable automatic restart on system failure


If you receive any error messeges its extremely important to right them down. Thanks

After selecting Disable automatic restart on system failure I got the BSOD again, but this time it just stayed there until I held down the power button to kill the power since nothing was happening.

The BSOD says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I noticed when selecting all other options aside from Disable automatic restart on system failure and Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domains controllers only), it will give me the BSOD and then boot loop back to the original starting screen where you can press F2, F12, or F8. The only difference when selecting Disable automatic restart on system failure is the BSOD just stays on the screen for a long time until you just give up and turn off the computer.

Also if you select Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domains controllers only) a screen comes up with a light blue Windows background similar to the one you get where you have to enter a password in order to get to your desktop. The window stays on for only a few seconds before the BSOD shows up and then boot loops you. The light blue window says this in white font:
