Post slow startup
My Lenevo Thinkpad R61i with a fingerprint reader is getting slower and slower starting up. I am referring to the time from when the Desktop is first displayed and you can actually do something. It takes about 60 seconds (which is an eternity for me) to populate the notification area at the bottom right of the screen, and the hour glass goes away, and I can begin working. I do not know, but is that not an unreasonable long time?

First when the desktop comes up, there are two darker blue vertical bands on the lighter blue taskbar, one on each side (delimiting the notification and the startmenus perhaps??) Also there some weird things happening while the various icons pop up in the notification area. At one point during this 60 second period, the screen goes black for 1-3 seconds and then it comes back. Then there is this black vertical strip or band right next to the start menu, for about 10 seconds, and then it dissappears. I am not sure if this information is helpful or not. It qualified as "strange behaviour" to me so I thought I should at least mention it.

These are the icons in the notification area when system is ready to go,from right to left

Active icons
1) Clock
2) Hard-drive shock detector
3) Intel (R) Graphics Medial Accelarator Driver for Mobile
4) Volume (muted)
5) Wireless connection
6) Wireless connection 3
7) Local area connection
8) Diskeeper
9) Kaspersky Internet Security
10) Logitech VX Revolution

Not active icons (hidden)
11) Message Center (Thinkvantage)
12) Thinkvantage Password Manager
13) Windows Messanger (not signed in)

As far as software goes, I have installed
-IBM Thinkvantage Software (pre-installed)
-Kaspersky Internet Security 8.0.0.506 (2009), default settings.
-Sprint Smartview/ Sierra Wireless USB598 Modem
-Logitech VX Revolution Mouse Driver
-Dell A810 Printer Driver
-MS Internet Explorer 8.0
-Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10
-Java (an add-on for the browsers I believe)
-Adobe Acrobat Reader 8
-Adobe Flashplayer 10
-Google Earth
-Bibleworks 6.0

Any help figuring out what I need to do to speed things up are welcome.
I have run diskeeper to defragment the hard-drive but that did not help very much. I attach a HiJackThis log file.

Thanks,
Puddlegum
