Hello:

I was wondering if somebody could take a look at my HJT log and see if there are any problems. It has been running really slow lately and wondering if I am running too many unnessesary processes, or maybe I just need more RAM.

My computer Info:

XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3
AMD Athlon XP 2200+

I just updated all the protection software and ran them. There was nothing found. I also updated windows. I would like to just run the necessary processes to operate the computer and for the computer protection. I never download toolbars, only use the ones that came with IE 8.
I looked inside at my RAM and it said DDR333, if I need RAM is that what I ask for?

Hi 72Blazer Your log looks clean. In fact, you appear VERY protected.

We should check to see how much RAM you have.
Go to Start > Control Panel > double click on System
Under the General tab, it should indicate how much memory there is
(example: 512MB or 1.00GB)

I have 512MB of RAM.

Somebody told me that if you add RAM and you have 512MB stick you should add 512MB sticks not 1GB. they said it is not good to have a 512 stick and a 1GB stick, is that true?

My RAM says DDR333, is that what I would ask for?

I tend to stick with matching pairs. However, I have seen plenty of systems in my day that didn't have matching pairs but still operated just fine.

What I would do is find out the maximum size of memory module that your PC supports.

You would also need to identify the type of RAM your PC's motherboard supports.

I would go to this website: http://www.crucial.com/
You can either click on the Crucial System Scanner tool and have it scan your computer to find out what is already inside your system and get recommended upgrades.
Or, you can use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool - from there you will see a drop down menu where you would select the manufacturer and model # of your PC.
Then it will get you the correct recommendations of RAM for your PC.

Let me know what it says.

You have a lot of choices now. 2 empty slots. You could add 512mb in each slot if you wish.

You could order the RAM through Crucial. Or you could go somewhere like Staples or Best Buy and see how much they charge for the memory.
