Download OTS.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTS on your desktop.
  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTS, allow it to run.
  3. Open the OTS folder and double-click on OTS.exe to start the program.
  4. In Additional Scans section put a check in Disabled MS Config Items and EventViewer logs
  5. Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  6. The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  7. When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  8. Save that notepad file
Use the Reply button, scroll down to the attachments section and attach the notepad file here.

NOTE: The only people who can see attachments in the HJT forum are: the thread starter, Admins & Mods, and HJT Helpers & Trainees.

Start OTS. Copy/Paste the information in the Code box below into the pane where it says Paste fix here and then click the Run Fix button.

Code:
[Kill Explorer]
[Unregister Dlls]
[Processes - Safe List]
YY -> msa.exe -> C:\Windows\msa.exe
YY -> a.exe -> C:\Users\currys\AppData\Local\Temp\a.exe
[Win32 Services - Safe List]
YN -> (Norton Internet Security) Norton Internet Security [Auto | Stopped] ->
[Registry - Safe List]
< Run [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\] > -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
YY -> "TurboNet" -> C:\Users\currys\AppData\Local\Temp\a.exe [C:\Users\currys\AppData\Local\Temp\a.exe]
[Files - No Company Name]
NY -> msa.exe -> C:\Windows\msa.exe
NY -> {35DC3473-A719-4d14-B7C1-FD326CA84A0C}.job -> C:\Windows\tasks\{35DC3473-A719-4d14-B7C1-FD326CA84A0C}.job
NY -> {66BA574B-1E11-49b8-909C-8CC9E0E8E015}.job -> C:\Windows\tasks\{66BA574B-1E11-49b8-909C-8CC9E0E8E015}.job
[Empty Temp Folders]
[Start Explorer]
[Reboot]

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix.
Post that information back here.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Right click on the Avenger.zip folder and select "Extract All..."
  • Follow the prompts and extract the avenger folder to your Desktop

2. Copy all the text contained in the Quote box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Quote:
Files to delete:
c:\users\currys\appdata\local\temp\a.exe
c:\windows\msa.exe
c:\windows\tasks\{35dc3473-a719-4d14-b7c1-fd326ca84a0c}.job
c:\windows\tasks\{66ba574b-1e11-49b8-909c-8cc9e0e8e015}.job

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, open The Avenger folder and start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon.
  • Right click on the window under Input script here:, and select Paste.
  • You can also Paste the text copied to the clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click on Execute
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer.
    Note: In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Delete", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log .

I would disable it as described in the Recommendation.

I would suggest letting AVG remove/heal the items it finds!

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)

1. Turn off System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
System Restore will now be active again.

NEXT
  • Start OTS
  • Click the CleanUp button
    • OTS will download a small file from the Internet. If a security program or firewall warns you of this allow it to download.
    • OTS will delete any tools downloaded and files/folders created and then ask you to reboot so it can remove itself.
  • Click Yes.

Now you should Clean up your PC

You're welcome!

hello, sorry have been away with work. All viruses seem to have gone but Firefox keeps resizing itself and opening new tabs to adverts, it is also using a lot of memory (up to 40%), what do I need to do?

Click Start and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find:

Norton Internet Security

Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK.
Exit the Services utility.

Please update AVG.

After you have done that and restarted the machine let me know how the machine is working.
