I have an HP desktop with Windows Home XP, updated with SP2 that suddenly refuses to boot. It will get to the windows welcome screen, then go black and the only visible object is the mouse pointer. I do have the original installation disc. What would be the best method to get the computer to boot properly?

thanks, but it wasn't an issue of reading mail off of outlook. I can't print anything off of the internet. All I get is html text. My internet provider is through Armstrong cable. I just talked to them hoping there might be something in my settings, but all he would say was they have nothing to do with my printer. Couldn't make them understand that it wastn't the printer. If works just fine for anything else. Even if someone sends something they have created on word or excel that comes through just fine. Just nothing off of the internet. Thanks for your help.
