    Yes I have been seeing the same thing.. as a Home & Office technician full time.
    I've had a number of laptops/desktops come in with the symptom... "It would start up".
    Looks like an update is affecting a driver or bios thing with the hard drives but I cannot be sure. In most cases it looks like a result of a virus but I too suspect updates are the culprits. The main issue is that each and every PC or laptop is essentially unique in set-up and software.. so it really makes it tough to get an exact read on what is causing the problem.
    I have some tools
