    As as an addendum to the above, what I think I need is a standalone A/V remover that does not need the internet. I have run TDSKILLER and as near as I can tell, it found no threats. I also ran COMBO.FIX and had no indications of a threat. It ran all 50 stages then shut down the PC. I can't find the log file. If I click the COMBO.FIX folder in C, it reverts me back to one level to the previous screen.
