help purchasing college laptop
im looking around online for a college laptop and i am drawn to two brands: sony and apple... tell me which one is a better brand, which is more reliable: mac osx or windows vista, on which laptop will microsoft office run most efficiently... im looking for a 2gb, at least 150gb hd, at least 2.2 ghz dual core processor, and a decent 4-5 hour battery life... thanks

You will need to decide if you want a Mac or a PC.

Can't help with that one.

I have a Sony Viao VGN-CR220E. Battery life depends on what you are doing, obviously. I've gotten a little over 3 hours on this one, just doing emails and visiting websites.

yeah you are right... battery life depends on how i customize it... alright then: considering the fact that microsoft is more widespread, would i run into more complications if i bought an apple? microsoft office for apple had bad reviews last time i checked... which operating system is more efficient?

Again, you are trying to start the great MAC vs. PC debate

Mac users are going to tout the MAC, and PC users are going to tout PC.

dantemustdie24: (Interesting user name, btw...)

As someone familiar with both Windows and OS X, I'd recommend a Mac.

Microsoft just recently announced the (updated) Office 2008 for Mac. I've been using Office for my Mac since MS's Office X offering, and have never had any issues with it. The software works as well on my Mac as my Office software does for Windows. It's efficient either way.

Are you aware that as a college student, you are eligible for a discount on most Apple products? That is a nice little incentive.

Hope that helps.
