Question Solved: memory questions
two questions please,
1)what is the difference between physical memory and virtual memory.
2) i recently bought 2X1GB on ebay. how can I tell if it is working correctly, it doesn't seem to be any faster than the 2X512 that I had before. Sys Info says I have 2048MB(physical), but only 1.24GB available
Dell E1505
thank you

physical memory is the hardware chips you have installed
virtual uses the harddrive

if your running 1GB of memory - you may not notice any difference going to 2gb unless you have lots of programs running or programs which need memorry to run

task manager will show you what you have

whats under the system tab in control panel

do youo have a graphics card using up some of the memory
