Unhappy New Build for computer having issues
i just put together my computer it has a msi motherboard amd 690 chipset with a amd athlon 64x2 at 5 gb 2gb of corsair memory thermaltake 430w powersupply and stock video card. I have everything installed and all of the power cords and everything plugged in and ready.

When i go to turn it on my monitor light turns green for like 2 seconds then it goes back to the yellow standby light. Ive done the troule shoot by trying it with the stock 300w power supply and switching slots with the memory. and re doing the wiring but i still get the same reaction. i think it might just be the monitor cause its an older one but want to know what you think. my next purchase is going to be an ati card and an lcd screen. i am using my labtop right now and when i pug my monitor into the video out from my labtop the monitor comes on i am really confused and need help thanks.

i would suggest taking the m/b loosee from the case and put a piece of cardbord under it and see if it works. try it with just the memory in and the video hooked up, no drives etc.
