VoIP
Anyone got any opinions on this mallarky? Is lingo the best? What's the deal with the quality of the line reception?

Just wondering as I am considering binning the landline and going with Lingo.

Cheers

I had good luck with Vonage, but they're pretty expensive. I'm considering ViaTalk as a replacement now.

Ok. Cheers my man. Just looking into it just now. Heard v. bad reports on Vonage but Lingo offers v. good deals to the UK. I suppose VoIP is the way to go nowadays. Heard that's why the landline providers are charging a fortune.

I currently have a copper line with unlimited calling for my second phone line (office). It's costing me around $57/mo, and I'm looking at the ViaTalk replacement that would cut the bill to $199 for two years and they give you two lines.

I have Vonage and I love the service. Although I do think their customer service reps are really prison inmates....LOL.

Did I hear something that Vonage do not offer 911 calls though? May be imagining it

Feck it - I'm calling Verizon just now to unhook this $70 a month landline that I only make local calls on. Robbing bandits.

Have Vonage for second line LD & Fax only. Have the 500 min. program for $15/month. With new state and federal fees and taxes, cost just over $20/mon. Works fine on cable 3-8 Mbs, but did not work worth a flip on my daughters cable 1.5 Mbs (drop outs and dropped calls). You have to register your 911 address as with any VoIP service. I'm happy with service, but still maintain a line with AT&T for basic phone service, although they have gone up again (now $42/month with no LD and with voice mail only added feature) and I'm looking to change to cable which will cost about the same with many more features. Removing 'Bell' from their name still hasn't made AT&T any more palatable.

Whoever told you they don't have 911 service doesn't know what they're talking about.
