Are there some speakers close to the monitor? If not, maybe the TDR that triggers the degaussing coil isn't working anymore.

How do you degauss it? I have a large homemade degaussing coil that I use, though it's been awhile since I had a TV with the issue. Flat screens are growing like grass at my house, I've already transitioned all the computers to flat screens, and I have two HD-TV sets, a plasma and an LCD, so there's just a couple of CRT TV's left...

When you move it, it's pretty normal to have to degauss it. However, the problem is most likely the TDR has died, and the automatic degaussing is no long functioning. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could probably fix that...
