Solved: A way to stop wasting DVDs???
Hey guys,

My parents like to watch a certain podcast (.wmv format) each week and every week I have to put it onto a disk..

I was wandering if there is a way for me to stop wasting dvds, eg a device that reads a usb drive to select to play videos etc.

I wouldn't mind paying for something, as long as it isn't ridiculously expensive.

Thanks

Distance

Like maybe a standalone DVD player with a USB port that plays WMV files? I would contact them to see what their actual WMV file support position is. If it won't support WMV files, you could try another format like Xvid or something.

Peace...

Dear Elvandil,I am against wasting DVD's as well as in the netherlands
they are just over 3 us dollars a piece but like i found out the prices in europe and for example canada are way out of sink as a friend in canada pay's 20 dollars for a skype headset while we pay 3 dollars a set in holland
so i will send you the money if you can send me a thousand dvd's and a bottle of the finest thrown in haha thanks chris

There is a piece of hardware by sandisk called taketv it hooks up to your computer like a flash drive you copy over the media then disconnect the usb drive plug it in to this thing that plugs in to your tv, its pretty nifty and supports wmv and divx so it should work for just about anything comes in 4GB and 8GB and costs less than 100 USDs. Not sure if this is a viable option or not but it sounds neat. Here's the link for it.

I saw that TakeTV thing on Diggnation once before I think. I decided to go for the Netgear EVA8000.

Fingers Crossed!
