Getting a part time IT job
i am young but at the working age, and i am looking for a part time job at a local computer store, i have a fair bit more experience then most of the kids around, i am currently studying electronic soldering but apart from that i have no FORMAL experience with computers... or any retail experience, how would i go about getting a job? i am going to collect a few application forms soon, but would it be worth inquiring via email first? would there be anything i could do to improve my chances of getting ANY job in IT now, or soon?

Depending on the company, you may want to send your CV off to the HR department or go into the company itself and speak to the manager

dress very presentable - not sure what the standard is in South Australia

On you CV list some of the things you have done with computers, at school etc

If you would supply more details, what qualifications you have.

Have a look at some websites for IT jobs around your area and see what type of experiance / qualifications they ask for

Hi,
Good advice from etaf. Appearance counts. Be honest on your CV without under-selling yourself. If you've got documents with good grades from school, these will support your CV. Any other p/t jobs? Someone to give good character references? Check spelling and grammar on CV. Show what you know and show that you want to learn.
Don't be put off if you don't land the dream job straight away, if you can - ask for feedback as to why they did not hire you. That way you can find ways to improve your chances.
Good luck and I hope you find what you're after.

Richard
