Solved: New USB device takes drive letter
Greetings. I have a new Tagus 7-port USB 2.0 hub to which I had two Iomega hard drives attached (D and F) and working fine. Today I plugged a Samsung DVD/CD burner into a third USB port on the Tagus and the Samsung took the D label and my Iomega that previously had D disappeared. I unplugged the Iomega and plugged it back into into another port on the Tagus and various other USB ports and and kept getting the message "USB device not recognized."

Thought about renaming the Samsung to another drive letter, but thought I'd ask here before making a bigger mess of things.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

I'd just use Disk Management to assign disk letters, you're on the right track.

Thanks
Yes, that did the trick. Renamed the new DVD device so the Iomega got its D label back and I'm good to go. Many thanks for the reply.
