LCD screens on digital cameras
The LCD screen on my Sony DSC P5 (yes, I know...ancient!) intermittently goes in and out. The camera has never been dropped or damaged, and I've used the same battery the camera came with since I purchased it new back in 2001. Could it just need a new battery? All other functions work properly.

I think it would be worth trying, if you don't want to update the camera
