shaking monitor
My screen shakes, and smells like something is burning.

please help

Well, it sounds like it's time for a new monitor! If this is a CRT, the cost to fix it will be prohibitive.

Yes, it's a CRT. A big sucker too. By shaking, I mean there's like some weird distortions that appear on the screen, usually when I've just turned it on. I don't notice a difference in the quality of the picture.

BTW, is it a fire hazard?

Sounds like the degaussing coil is not turning OFF.

Yes it could be a fire hazard.
