Solved: Car Navigation Systems
I am looking at nav systems for my mother in law and I need a little help in figuring out what "test to speech" means. I am zeroing in on the Tom Tom and I see that most if not all of them have voice-guided capability but I don't understand what the text to speech refers to. Help?

* Text-to-speech is currently supported in 8 languages: German, UK English, US English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese.

Thanks for the link, but don't they all talk like that? I am not understanding the difference unless it has something to do with receiving or sending text messages, is that right???

There are two types of voices in the TomTom, computer generated and a voice library that is someone's speaking voice.

The computer generated voice can do text to voice, however the voice library can only repeat the canned phrases that were recorded by the person generating the library. When you download the voices from the TomTom site, they identify which ones are capable of text to speach.
