RCA TV Defaults
Hey All-

This has been going on ever since I got this TV, but I never really cared before because I didn't use it enough.

The manufacture date on it is late 2001 and it's an RCA, probably a 21". I can get the model number if anyone wants it. I've had the TV for a bit over a year.

Basically what happens is when I turn on the TV, the volume will be at 3/4 up, and all settings (video, audio, etc.) will be at their defaults. The channel will still be at what I had it set at before, however.

I always keep the volume at minimum, because I use the sound off the receiver instead, and it still starts with it 3/4 up if I turn it off and back on. I also always set the color settings down to "Soft Lighting" so that the picture isn't so bright, yet if I turn it back off and on, it goes back to "Normal Lighting."

Any ideas at all as to why it does this? It gets really annoying to have to adjust the picture to soft lighting and volume down to minimum every time I turn it on.

Thanks,

Joe

A wild guess is that the nonvol memory that stores the settings when you power off is not working, don't know what the RX is without looking at the schematics of the set.

Just curious. How are you turning off the power? are you using the remote, swirch on the front of the tv or flipping the switch on a power strip?

The model number is J20541 if that helps any.

I am turning it off either with a universal remote or via the button on the front of the set.
