Help! I am trying to hook up my computer to my television but am having some issues. I have a newer video card on my computer with a 4 pin s-video output. I have a Sharp television circa 1996-1997 that only has rca inputs. I purchased an s-video to rca converter cord for this conversion. I have viewed multiple instructional videos on how to make this possible and feel I have a good take on how to do it. When I set my television as the monitor and apply it, I get a flash of my computer desktop on my television that is proceeded by gray and black lines and my computer screen goes black. About 15 seconds later, my computer screen comes back on. I have tried every different resolution setting on my computer and get essentially the same results. Can anyone help me with this problem? Doesn't sound like your video adapter supports the S-Video to Composite (RCA) cable connection.

You probably need a video scan converter, it will also probably be easier and cheaper to find a scan converter that converts VGA to Composite videoas opposed to S-Video to Composite video.
