This is highly dependent on the phone and carrier but you may be able to check your e-mail via the AOL website, If you have a pop mail program you would be able to use that. Some carriers (like US Cellular that I have) have short cuts built into phones mobile browsers that allow for quick access to certain services like e-mail and news. Mine has it for Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, and Google as well as their messenger services.

Do some homework on google and see if with AOL you can get your e-mails forwarded to your cell. I use gmail and they have a feature, all I had to do was homework, and I use sprint and with sprint you just put in a certain number combined with your mobile #. Then every time I get an e-mail gmail sends me a txt and includes part or all of the e-mail in the txt message. No Web access required (on phone of course)
