HDTV w/ surround sound
I just bought a HDTV and am wanting to buy a set of preferred wireless, but can do, of surround sound speakers. I don't necessarily want the dvd player thats included with most speaker systems, but just want speakers. Any suggestions?

Also, could you use PC theater speakers on a tv period?

Thanks for any feedback given!

depends upon what YOU wish to accomplish - let me try to explain without 'burying' you in information overload
- 'pc speakers' are generally 'short throw' speakers
- 'normal' speakers are usually 'standard throw' [unless stated otherwise]
- 'long throw' speakers generally cost much more and are constucted of higher quality materials

- the terminology refers to the amount of 'cone movement'

- pc speakers are plenty okay for rather small rooms
- in a larger room, you have to turn the volumn control up to get them to transmit the sound across the room - thus, louder to those near the speaker and not so easy to be heard to those sitting farther away - air isn't the best sound conductor
- the longer throw speakers can be pretty much heard across the room as well as near the speaker without having to keep 'fiddling' with the volumn control

the best way to put together a sound system / home theatre is to do the component way - rather than some manufacturer cobbling together a set-up

go somewhere they have different amps / receivers and many different speakers set-up that can be switched so you can hear the differences

best buy bought out magnolia sound - and have a 'magnolia room' in their more up-scale stores with such a set-up

some brands to look for:
yamaha make some very good receiver / amps - especially if you like the more basey rock sound
mirage and difinitive make some decent speakers at really reasonable prices for the quality involved

ok?
