Many many problems with my 5G Zen Micro
Where should i start?

I've had this mp3 player for about a year, maybe a little longer. One day, out of the blue, it seems all of my songs were gone, but i could still play them, but it was it seemed there were no songs there at all. A few days later, it wouldnt work at all. So when I plugged it into my computer, it said "Re-building library" and froze in the middle. I then tried to format it, and now its stuck there. I tried hooking it up to my computer. Sometimes it says "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZE" and other times it says what it should say, like MTP device and etc. I've tried to update the drivers and firmware but it says its not connected, and when i hook it up to the computer, i dont think that it even charges. Is it shot? or do i have some hope?

-I'm running windows xp and rolled back my windows media player to wmp10

Well I guess MP3's are like flash drives and only go for so long I am inclined to think its stuffed, but then again I have not had those things happen to mine, when it comes to flash drives which I seem to wear out often, as soon as there is the first sign of playing up (not the same stuff as yours) and if it does it second time on another computer I replace it, and every week or when new data goes on I update a copy of it on my hard drive.

If important stuff on there or stuff you don’t want to down load again, it would pay to do a similar thing to suit your ways.
Don’t know what to suggest, might be others that use MP3’ Players more than I do, i only have one, but have a few flash drives.

Hope you get your songs back.
