Solved: Cannon mp530 printer
I have a cannon mp530 printer and the small black ink cartridge is empty, but the larger cartridge is full. How to I get the printer to print from the large cartridge?
Thanks,

AFAIK, you don't. You need both cartridges to get it to print.

Hi Aimster,

I presume your printer Canon MP530 is supposed to work properly with all cartridges, so why are you trying to do different? Maybe to cut costs but you will find your printed matter will suffer from it. The larger is supposed to work with the other cartridges.

I have all new full cartridges but it does not appear to be using the ink from the larger black cartridge. What is the purpose of it if it does not print from this cartridge?

The purpose of the black cartridge is for B/W printing. They assume that will be the majority of your printing, however not all folks work that way.

Thanks for the reply, but I guess my real question is when does the printer kick in and use the larger black ink cartridge?

Like I said, if you print B/W to the printer, it should use the black ink.
