Watching tv from pc on tv that is not on same floor as pc
Hi guys... here is a detailed description of what i am trying to do. I will have 2 computers in my basement (which is also where my bedrooms are), there is no room for them on my main floor. What I would like to do is:
watch tv (from streaming sites like Hulu or whatever) from my pc, but would like it to show on my TV that is one level above. Tv is a relatively recent panasonic plasma. I would like to know what I would need to do this. I do not want to run wires, i would rather do this wirelessly. What do i need in my computer and on my tv to be able to do this? Also, i would like to be able to control the computer through the tv, so that every time i want to watch something different, i dont have to run downstairs (wireless mouse and keyboard?) There is also a small lcd tv that will be right beside my computer in the basement and will act as my computer monitor down there. I would also like to be able to watch tv from the pc on this. I am cancelling my cable.

If someone could provide me a detailed description of what i need and what i have to do, that would be VERY VERY appreciated.

Thanks, that looks great. Do I need a tv tuner in the pc for this to work? This looks like the perfect solution!

The media servers generally play files from the computer
or internet.
Being as you stated you were going to watch TV from
the internet,a TV tuner shouldn't be needed.
If you want to watch TV broadcast over the air,you would
need the proper tuner, but I don't know if the media players
are built to stream from a tuner.
You might be able to get a media player with one.
Don't know you location.
In the us,you need a ATSC capable tuner for broadcast and QAM
tuner for unencrypted digital cable.
NTSC for analog cable.
They will probably make cable card tuners publically available
sometime, but for now they are only available from certain cable
providers.
