Solved: Upgrading a Laptop Modem (G >N)
I've got a Lenovo 3000N100 that came with a G-speed internal modem, and I've recently upgraded my wireless router to N.

Calling Lenovo/IBM didn't help, and none of the shops in the area have upgrades for N, yet. (I couldn't understand the first Lenovo/IBM rep I talked with -- due to language issues, and the second one disconnected. I gave up.)

What is involved in swapping out the current G modem, where would I find a newer "N" modem card? (I know I can get a USB port modem, but would rather use the internal approach, unless that's really not a preferred course of action.)

Well, I think you may find that they've gone the way of folks like HP and Toshiba and limited the internal cards to the exact models they support. I have an 802.11n micro-PCI card here I was going to put in my HP laptop, no workie! As soon as you boot it, the BIOS hits you with an error about an invalid wireless adapter.
