Question transferring MS Word between computers in same network
I have a desktop and a PC at home, WiFi connected, and have inherited a new Netbook from someone who has lost the Programme Key to use MS Office Word. There is no CD drive in the Netbook. Can I install - either by transferring or copying - the Word programme from my old PC into the Netbook using a USB key or external hard drive? If so, I need extra-clear instructions...I'm not good at technology! thx

To answer your question, no you cannot just 'transfer' or 'copy' to another machine - the program will not work - you need the original CD or no go. But you can download open office which is a free office suite that will do everything Word (and read Word files) will do (or at least sufficiently - and it's free). Or, if you have the latest MS Office for Teachers and Students, you can legally load it on 3- computers.

There is no way to transfer the copy from one machine to another. There are tons of registry entries all over the registry, as well as a bunch of support files scattered around in a number of folders in both Program Files and Windows folders.

It's also clearly against the EULA to use the same copy of word (using the same key) on multiple computers.

I think your question has been answered fully.
