sonyxbr3 problem
need help i have a sony xbr3 46 inch that acts up after it has been on for a while. tv is in a entertainment unit with stereo and cable box below in separate areas. i have to keep center doors open for air circulation but this doesnot solve problem after tv has been on for a couple hours. have changed cable box to no avail. also have xbox hooked up but never have any problems with it. stereo seems to build up a lot of heat but i don't know if this could be the problem. when problem starts i turn unit off for awhile and it helps a little bit. help!!!!!!!!!!!

This seems clearly to be a heat issue. I have one of the lousy Motorola DVR boxes that both Comcast and Verizon uses, and I've had to ventilate the cabinet with a couple of 4" fans, and I also have a fan directly on the top of the DVR blowing into it for cooling. That's the only way I could keep it from locking up.

One way to see if heat is the issue is to open the doors and blow air directly around the TV with a large box fan while the TV is on. If it doesn't fail with lots of ventilation, you have your answer.
