You are welcome. With all the web apps these days, I don't use these any more, but I liked the password manager and OpenOffice. It just depends on what apps you want access to...there are lots to choose from.

If you want to use the U3 interface, you can only install programs from Sandisk's U3 program site. Everything else will have to be launched through Explorer. I last used the U3 platform months ago. They never updated the version of Firefox from version 2, and most apps were not free. There are so many better free alternatives to U3, I no longer see any use for it.

I removed the U3 stuff from my unit and formatted it as a standard drive.

You simply need to just update the Firefox application the same as you do any Firefox when an update comes out. Just like if you have firefox installed on your computer, it needs to be updated when new ones come out.

I have Firefox, SIW, and Thunderbird on mine. Makes life easier when I'm at someone else's computer to have my browser, with my settings, bookmarks, passwords, etc and my email program with the accounts already configured to just go check the email. SIW is a geat, handy program to help you troubleshoot a computer, retrieve needed information about programs, drivers, system specs, etc.

there is a way to change what you said, you said that you can ONLY use the ones from U3, you can get this program called "package factory" and it will make .exe's go to U3 format

Package Factory works with some programs. Not all.

Laura, I did try to update Firefox, and it didn't work. This was a while ago so maybe things have changed. It was a known issue discussed at both Mozilla and U3 forums.

I just updated my US Firefox a couple of weeks ago, I think it was. Not too long ago. It's now got the Firefox 3.5.5 on the U3 flashdrive. I just ran the update from Firefox's "check for updates."

You have to try it to find out. There's no comprehensive list.
