Digital TV Switchover Questions
Hi

I'm facing analog switch-off in the next couple months and have a number of questions I'd like to consider before I make some bad decisions.

I have an old, but extremely capable Sony TV, but it has no SCART fitting. I know there are digi boxes out there (TVonics, etc) that I can use to set up Freeview or similar, but I'd also like to be able to record programmes after switchover. My current DVD recorder is a Liteon LVW 5006--can I connect this to the telly as I do now via the TVonics or similar?

If not, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced method of getting around my SCARTless TV so I can both view and record in future?

Thanks

I would think the dvd recorder has signal passthrough,so all
you should need is a digital to analog converter box
and amplified antenna for over the air freeview.
The converter box would connect to the dvd recorder and
be used as the tv tuner.
Everything else should be connected as it is now.
Should be setup like converter-dvd-tv.
Set the dvd and tv tuner to the output channel of the converter box.

A set top box that plugs into your TV along with your DVD recorder, I have three TV's all not fitted with a HD receiver of varying ages, and all take a set top box and DVD recorder, as to the different ways you can connect up, I have connected them separately so don’t know if other ways to do it, as I don’t get into recording stuff off the TV.

One thing though is the standard set top box is good for the TV's that are square you get the full screen, the HD set top boxes are better for the wide screen TV's, (well that is the case in Australia) either one will give you the Digital TV but only the High Definition one will obviously only give you the HD channels, but both you still get all the free to air channels (including if in Australia) Seven2, GO Television, SBS, Chanel 2, 7, 9 and ten, and depending on where you are in Australia other channels also.

Looked at your profile and could not see any info there so all I can tell you is info on what applies in Aussie.
