Burning a cd from a DVR
I have a DVR and have several shows that I've taped and saved that are eating up space. I'd like to put them on a disc, but it seems almost impossible. I've asked a number of people who all tell me how to hook up the wires, but it just doesn't work. I've been told it's possible to do, but no matter what I do, it just doesn't work.

I have Optimum TV. What could I be doing wrong? Is there some other thing I need to hook up to my TV?

Have you gotten it hooked up so that you can see the files on the hard drive from your computer?

This is dependent on the exact model of the DVR. The Motorola DVR that Verizon FiOS and Comcast use does not have the ability to record. The only way I can see doing this is to play the program from the DVR and record the video/audio output.

This is for my TV that I'm trying to copy from - not my computer. The DVR I have is IO (Optimum)

The manual makes no mention of the ability to connect that DVR to any recording device or computer except for a VCR. You'd have to connect it to a computer using a video capture card, play the show, and record it in real time.
