Unhappy police scanners
I own a Radio shack Pro 96 hand held digital scanner. Some of the police/fire dept frequencies have changed to an apco 25 digital frequency system. The owners manual is very vague on how to pe\rogram these frquencies. I've tried endlessly to to program my scanner with no success. Can anyone PLEASE help?

Hi.
I'm not sure what country you're in? But in the UK one is not supposed to listen in on the Police.
However just a quick Google got this site for USA so I guess it's allowed there? Is that right?

But you can get into a lot of trouble for repeating what you hear. That makes it hard to guide your criminal gang without breaking the FCC laws.

Those new frequencies are trunked. They can be hard to program if you don't have a guide, or all the frequencies. Is it a trunk-tracker? Are you using PC software to program it?

It is a digital trunking scanner and no I'm not using pc software. I was hoping to avoid the that route and not have to pay for software.

It costs money? It may be worth it. My Wouxun can't even be programmed for advanced features without a PC.
