ipod aux car dock - left speakers only
I used to have a griffin ipod aux car dock which works fine until a month ago when it "died" and the sound only comes out of my left car speakers. so i then bought a kensington ipod aux car dock, brand new, same problem. emailed kensington support, they sent me a replacement and it still has the problem

so now i'm thinking that the dock might not be dead yet and the problem might be somewhere else.

i'm a bit tech savvy when it comes to computers, but i'm not that good with audio/electrical/car systems so i'm gonna need some troubleshooting advice

how it's setup right now is, the ipod is connected to the dock via the ipod's bottom port, the dock unit has an aux out port which is then connected to my car's aux in port using an aux cable

here's what i tried so far and also what i can assume about the problem
- 3 different aux docks, 2 different brands, same problem = docks might be working fine
- tried 2 different ipods, different models, same problem = ipod is working fine
- connected the ipod directly to the car's aux in port using an aux cable (cable didn't pass through dock), no problem = car's aux in port + radio + speakers are working fine

one thing i haven't tried is using a different cig lighter outlet for the dock, maybe the one i'm using now might have a short or something causing the dock to have less power that it requires. i'll try this when i get home

any other troubleshooting suggestions? thanks

its probably best if you just use the aux in port because ipods have a very long battery life when the brightness is down. Cig lighter can cause feedback.
